Scary Stories We Tell - News

10/2/2016

How we have reached the last quarter of 2016, I will never know. It feels like just yesterday I decided to take my writing hiatus. Yeah… that was April. Well, hiatus no more! It’s October, the month before November and you know what that means… NaNoWriMo is right around the corner, and I have some deep thinking to do.

But enough about me, what about you, how have you been these last few months? I feel like we haven’t spoken in a while and that needs to change, so what’s new? I hope you’ve had an amazing few months and you are ready for new adventures with me and all of my imaginary friends here!

October is a month for swapping stories, becoming someone else, and making your life be what you want it. So let’s do it!

the book report

new release

book > film

Steampunk fans, tickets are on sale for next year’s Steamposium in Seattle! I went this year and had a blast. You can find pictures of the lovely lady behind Pinch of Geek Tea and myself from this year’s event, and I went “undercover” to learn as much hands on as I can about steampunk and its culture. ...why? You’ll see. *sneaky grin*

For those of you who have been with me since the beginning (three years now!), may wonder the answer to this question a lot. How long does it take to write a book you ask? Well, let’s put it this way. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone took six years, so I feel less bad that The Keeper Chronicles is still a work in progress.  Make sure to check out some of your other favorites.

I mentioned about that I attended Steamposium to research for an upcoming project. Here’s another hint. This article addresses that yes, we still need gay tragedies in lit, and there’s a quote in the article that shocks me. I’ll leave it here, and you can think what you will.

“Blatant homophobia, they argue, feels dated in 2016.
They will say this the same day a gay man in Manhattan needs six stitches above his eye. The day two young girlfriends in Kentucky are barred from prom. The day an Arizona boy is kicked out of his home at fourteen.“

Let’s end this news on a light note, here’s a funny but excellent article on some of the most common mispronounced words. Do you recognize a few that you do incorrectly, I do!
