December is for Reading - News

11/30/2015

Warm beverages, good books, and lots of time for family, that's what I have planned for December! I'm crossing my fingers for snow and stocking up on warm scarves just in case, but really, I just need a warm and comfy place to read this month. The Goodreads reading challenge is almost over and I have a whopping 18 books left to read in the next 32 days, so be prepared for a rapidly updating home page widget!

If you're looking for something new to read, might I suggest Channillo.com for some serialized lit. Nearly every genre you can think of, a variety of characters, and writers from all over the spectrum. I am currently publishing Everyday Adventures bi-weekly or if you're looking for a grab bag, try the short story finalists and read my short, Beverage Therapy, and others in one easy place. I am still planning on publishing Beverage Therapy for a small donation to charity here on my site (see the new cart up there ^), however, the time table has been bumped to January and I will keep you posted on when and how you can purchase that.

the book report

Alright, who has seen the new Adult Coloring books? If you've tried one, please leave a comment, I'm curious of your experience. This list of coloring books highlights some of the best books to use as a "sort of coping mechanism, used to counter the pitfalls of busy, everyday life." These books look great.. thanks, but I think I'd pick up the Doctor Who one.

I'm moving to France! Okay, not really, but I would... for a short story vending machine. You heard me. When "you left your phone at home, or the battery's dead" and you need a quick stimulating pick me up, just find one of these little machines and you'll be all set. Seriously, why do we not have these in Seattle?

BREAKING NEWS! Oxford trolls world! Okay, maybe not... but this did choose the "word" of the year for 2015, and the winner is... the "Crying Tears of Joy" Emoji? What? What do you think of their choice, share your reaction below.

Amazon Books is now a real tangible building in Seattle WA. People's reactions seem to be a mix of cheers (for more books) and boos as Amazon has actively "encouraged consumers to check out books in stores, then go to Amazon for a slightly cheaper copy." I'm planning a trip into the city this month to check out the "new kid" on the block and I'll make sure to let you know how it went.
