Its been a while since I have posted a "proper" wisdom entry, most have been hiding among other posts or have come in the form of articles.  Today I'm feeling nostalgic, so here's a traditional dose of tasty tasty wisdom #CI.
“Laughter is timeless. Imagination has no age. And dreams are forever.”
― Walt Disney Company
I have always been a Disney kid and more importantly an Alice fan.  I am fortunate enough to own a few family heirloom copies and I adore them.

Do you have any Disney or book related family heirlooms? (That you may or may not keep under lock and key like I do.)

The Ideal Length

Bet you thought I was going somewhere naughty with this huh? Gotcha!

Having come from a print media background "the ideal length" is something that has been drilled into me more times than I could count.  So I felt the need to beat you with it too.  None of these are rule but "more like guidelines" *cue Captn' Barbossa*

Had a great writing day yesterday and with the first week of Camp NaNoWriMo over I was 2.5 days ahead or 3.8k words. I am loving this new story and I can't wait to share with you some of the work I've been doing.  I'm look to write some detailed character bios and get those up here within the week.  Finals do begin this week and run for three weeks though so bear with me.

Daily Dose of Wisdom - XCIV

A lot has changed since this blog was born.  It was originally an art portfolio, had contact information for video game production jobs and a producer blog.
As it has morphed into this wonderfully free space filled with snippets of life, inspiration, facts and moments of pleasure, I have been blessed to share it with you.  So I wanted to say...

...Thank you, for letting me change my mind.

Hi everyone!
Today's going to be a bit of a mad and crazy hodgepodge so I wanted to share a bit of it with you all.
Happy reading!

Wisdom XCIII

"Something is always born of excess: great art was born of great terrors, great loneliness, great inhibitions, instabilities, and it always balances them."
Read this quick article about one astounding woman and her views on creativity:
Why Emotional Excess is Essential to Writing and Creativity

Site Update in-Progress!

If you have not yet noticed there's a lot changing around here.  The progress bars have been moved along with a new twitter feed, goodreads shelf and email template to a new landing page/homepage.  This is just the first of quite a few changes that have yet to come.  Don't worry, names and layouts may change, but i'll always be here.
As always thanks for sticking by me!

Fabled Family Wisdom

Who thinks we should make a new segment, "Fabled Family Wisdom"?
This apple doesn't fall very far from the bookworm tree and with my Mother, Grandmother and little Brother all avid readers themselves I wonder what tid-bits we could bring together...

I shall look into this!

"A reader lives a thousand lives" - Wisdom XCI

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.”
― George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons
Why do you read?

I read to escape, to become someone I'm not, to live without fear, or to love when I am too scared.

Reading transports me to far off places, distance galaxies with a Time Lord, and hauntingly beautiful locations filled with gods and kings.

I read to learn about myself and how far I can travel with the company of a wolf, a be-spelled ring, or a vampire.

I read to live.

Why do you read?

Cherish the Roses - Wisdom LXXXIX

3/24/2014

Have you ever wanted to wish away all of the negativity, the hate, the bad?  How can you expect to live like that? What would you do about all of the good in your life? The beauty.  The peace.

We all want a beautiful life, but how can you have a beautiful life without a bit of bad?  There would be nothing to make you appreciate the good.

Do not be afraid of the negative, embrace it.  Learn from it.  Grow.

Then cherish the roses.
“But he who dares not grasp the thorn
Should never crave the rose.”

― Anne Brontë

“How mean to buy only as many books as one will actually have time to read.”
― Alain de Botton

Reading is magical.  It can transport you to another place, give you a day in the life of another person, or teach you things you may have never experienced otherwise.  Everyone should read and everyone should experience the magic.

Picked up a book from my shelf last night I bought a while ago and hadn't gotten around to.  Letting Go by Maya Banks.  So far so good, stay tuned for a review in a few days!

Happy Sunday!
