As I begin to fall from the writers high that followed Camp NaNoWriMo I have realized how neglected some of my life's loves have been.
Let's talk about you.
Over the past month I have been promising character bios for Annabelle and Lucian from 'Stealth' and I have continuously forgotten them. Well not any more. The bios are up! Check out the spiffy new 'Stealth' page dedicated to everything A&L.
Finally, lets talk about me.
If you had asked me last May if I thought I would be writing two novels in the next year I would have laughed in your face and went back to reading my book. Here's a little secret, I couldn't have done it without you (this section is really about you too). Your constant support via twitter, facebook, or even checking this blog every so often. So thank you for all you do and know that you make a different in this dreamer's life.
Today, minutes before dinner (actually I was late to the table), I validated my word count via Camp NaNo magic and saw that I was clocked in at 50,172 words! Woot! We won!
Here's the bad news...Stealth isn't finished. While I reached 50k I am unhappy with where the book ended and I never intended to make it more than a standalone novel, therefore I will be returning to Stealth in June and hopefully get that finished and up and on the editor's block shortly after.
So what's happening between now and then?
First, I will be creating a page for Stealth up there next to Keeper's this weekend. Then, in celebration of completing the challenge I will post a few character bios and a synopsis for the book. My goal is to then to polish up a segment of the book as a preview to share with you.
May will be dedicated to (catching up on my pending book reviews) and editing a v2.0 of Keeper's Conundrum.
Thank you to everyone for the continued support this past 30 day, I couldn't have done it without you all.
This is the second NaNo event I have participated and after missing the mark last November I am ECSTATIC to have completed this month's challenge.
Camp NaNoWriMo has begun and for the second time I will be participating in the events! This time I will be working on an idea I have had stewing in my head for the last few months.
Annabelle is an outgoing assistant to a leader in the media industry. What she thinks will be an amazing career starter will push her patience and sanity to the limits. That is until she meets Lucian, a god in human flesh. When a chance meeting one day causes the two to meet Annabelle's life is changed forever by the whirl-wind romance that threatens to break all of her well constructed walls. But Annabelle has a dark past she's afraid to share with Lucian and the past has a habit of trying to resurface in the future. When it does she must make the decision to share her past with Lucian and let him in or neither of them may not survive.
This doesn't mean I will give up on Onnie and her magical adventure, but for a few weeks she will be back on the shelf napping with the rest of my imaginary friends, it's Annabelle's turn to play!
Small teaser for all of you following Onnie's adventure so far in commemoration for reaching 50,000 words this weekend.
Enjoy the tender moment these two share over a delectable cup of tea.
“Oh, um… so last night after you dropped me off…” Onnie looked under her lashes in shame at Gabriel.
Late Friday night I slaved away in front of my computer and with great excitement I can say I have officially finished the first draft of my first novel. Woot!
Writing is something I have wanted to do since I was little and even when I did not have he courage to speak about it openly it was always in the back of my mind. I have never been more proud of myself and I am delighted to share this momentous occasion with you.
I have updated the Keepers Conundrum page with a bit more content and some new fancy progress bars (html programming for the win!). You'll notice that the page count is still in progress even though v1 is complete. I have learned through this progress that I tend to write the story bumps and arcs and gloss over the details in v1. I've been taking notes and writing snippets of needed scenes and v2 is where I will be bulking up the book and fleshing out broke plot lines and filling in holes.
I'll be the first to admit I've got a lot of work ahead of me but I'm excited and ready to write.
Also stay tuned for some original artwork for KC, one of the perks about going to art school is I have tons of friends willing to help out.
Happy Friday everyone!
I don't know about you but Friday's are the best day of the week in my world. Friday is writing day! After I finish up working for a few hours I get to plunge straight into writing for three full days! On the agenda for this weekend is finishing up the last chapter for Keeper's Conundrum and reaching that 50,000 word count. Then a full re-read of what's been written so far. So basically I have two tasks this weekend; writing and reading. Yup this weekend is going to be a long painful one...I don't think so.
I also have some good news, yesterday after much crossing out and re-writing I finished the first pass at the synopsis for KC. This has been posted on the Keeper's Conundrum page and also below. Give it a read and let me know what you think in the comment boxes provided.
Have a happy and safe weekend!
Onnie’s had it with her boring life of self created solitude. So when her Grandfather calls and asks her to move to Seattle to help him run his bookshop she can’t refuse the offer for adventure. But when Gabriel enters the bookshop Onnie is thrown into a world she had never imagined. Nothing is what it seems, magic exists and Onnie must leave her old life behind in order to survive. Here only hope is to learn to lean on those around her and to open her heart up to the impossible. But there is evil in the world and life is seldom simple or straight forward and Onnie and Gabriel must fight through the heartache to overcome it.
Hello and welcome to a new year!
You may be thinking, "but Eliza it's the 16th of January, we've been back... January is almost half over." Well, yes... you are correct but lots has been happening around here and changing these past few weeks. So here's a quick blog update on the coming and goings of me, Onnie and Keeper's Conundrum over all.
Onnie is back! I know it's been a few weeks and my word count has stagnated, but there's some good news. Friday afternoons I have carved out a chunk of time to focus on KC and I hope to add more time throughout the week to that. While I know only one afternoon does not sound like a lot please remember I am a full time student working on my BFA and I have a few jobs on top of that. I will be focusing as much time as I can possibly spare on writing.
It took my first ever Holiday vacation from work this year. When planing I assumed that I was going to be alone most of the two weeks due to family having to work. Luckily, that did not turn out to be the case. Instead I spent most of my time crafting (check out Silencing the Elephant) and playing games with family. That being said, family is important and I am grateful for the time I was given.
Over all this semester is going to be organized differently than the past one and as with any situation I will be working the kinks out as it progresses.
As always, thanks for the support!
One of the trouble points I've had over the past few weeks has been trying to come up with the name of magic book that Onnie and Gabriel need in order to attune themselves with the bookshop.
This morning, the inspiration hit:
"Nullam Vitae et Omne"
"Life Magic and Everything"
Onnie and friends now have a Pinterest board. Follow their development and my inspiration into who these character are.
Make sure to check back for updates and a new button has been added to the blog side bar for easy future access.
