"Reading was my escape and my comfort, my consolation, my stimulant of choice: reading for the pure pleasure of it, for the beautiful stillness that surrounds you when you hear an author's words reverberating in your head."
Happy 67th birthday, Paul Auster! As a novelist, he is preoccupied with the concept of chance. At 14, Auster was standing next to a friend who was struck and killed by a bolt of lightning.
Yesterday I finished reading, Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson and have reviewed it on GoodReads.
Make sure to stop by Mr. Sanderson's website and check out my review HERE or below.
5 Stars - Fantasy, YA, Science Fiction
Brandon Sanderson is one of the most immersive writers I have ever read. His worlds are rich, interconnected and filled with interesting wit.
Steelheart is less about the Epics and more about how humans face the greatest challenge they have ever faced. Some lie, some steal, some stand up and fight back. The Reckoners were content with the way their game was played, until David came along. Steelheart follows a small band of Reckoners as they attempt to rid the world of as many Epics as possible.
David, Megan, Prof, all of the band of Reckoners are written beautifully. You'll laugh at Cody, scream at Megan and cry out in frustration at Prof. But then somehow Sanderson leaves you dazed and confused in the last twenty pages.
...Now We hold our breath and eagerly await book 2.
It's time for the Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy February book club post! Last month went amazing and after finishing my original ten books I read half a dozen more. Lets see if I can keep it up!
Here I will post my monthly planned books to read and I will update them as I finish them off, I won't post a new post, but rather refresh the date on this one and edit the list to show completed. This month I am going to focus on finishing the last of the Kenyon Series and reading a few books that I promised to review.
